Produced in the Val d'Orcia region, this IGT (Typical Geographical Indication) wine is distinguished by a dense and impenetrable ruby red colour. On the nose, it develops a complex and fruity bouquet, with clear hints of forest fruits, tobacco, and spices. On the palate, it reveals itself to be structured and imposing, supported by a dense texture that accompanies a long and very persistent finish, demonstrating a strong inclination for excellent evolution over time.

Where it comes from

This Cabernet Franc comes from the rolling hills of the Val d'Orcia, specifically in the area of Sarteano, in south-eastern Tuscany. The vines, which are about twenty years old, grow in a single plot of just over a hectare, located between 400 and 450 metres above sea level. The terrain, characterised by clay-limestone and gravelly soils, together with high planting density and low yields per hectare, helps to concentrate the aromatic intensity of the grapes, defining the identity and elegance that distinguish this region.

How it is produced

The production process of this wine aims to maximise the potential of the grapes. Vinification begins with fermentation in steel tanks for approximately twelve days, extracting colour and varietal aromas. Subsequently, the wine matures for eight months in new French oak barrels, acquiring roundness and further complexity. Ageing concludes with an eleven-month rest in concrete tanks, an essential phase to balance the structure before bottling and to prepare it to accompany dishes based on game, red meats, and mature cheeses.

History and curiosities

Campo di Magnacosta originates in Sarteano, in a remote and charming corner of the Val d’Orcia, where the famous Tenuta di Trinoro estate cultivates precious twenty-year-old vines with extreme care. This fascinating wine expression comes to life from a tiny vineyard of just one and a half hectares, nestled at an altitude of almost four hundred and fifty metres. The unique soils, composed of clay, limestone and gravel, admirably evoke the renowned elegance of Saint-Émilion.
