In 1988, following a particularly fruitful harvest, the two historic Tuscan wineries decided to blend the results of their best blends and collaborate to create a unique formula. They created the 50 \u0026amp; 50 red wine by separately growing the \u003cb\u003eSangiovese Capannelle\u003c\/b\u003e grapes and the \u003cb\u003eMerlot grape\u003c\/b\u003e of the Avignonesi di Montepulciano, and then combining the two wines to create an exclusive blend with a velvety texture. With its \u003cb\u003eIGT Toscana\u003c\/b\u003e designation, this still red wine is made from vines grown on soils rich in clay, silt, and limestone. As it grows, it captures, with the changing seasons, the beneficial influences of the temperate, Mediterranean climate typical of the Sienese hills. The vines, trained either bush-trained, using the \u003cb\u003eGuyot system\u003c\/b\u003e, or spurred cordon, yield their prized fruit, which is vinified in vertical, truncated-cone vats made of Slavonian oak. The 50 \u0026amp; 50 Avignonesi Capannelle \u003cb\u003ered wine\u003c\/b\u003e then continues its \u003cb\u003eaging\u003c\/b\u003e in barrique barrels for a period of 24 months.
