Description
What type of wine it is
Nosiola Vigneti delle Dolomiti La Vis is a dry white wine with a Typical Geographical Indication that precisely expresses the character of the Trentino territory, fermented in steel and aged on the lees. Produced with Nosiola grapes, it presents a pale straw yellow colour with delicate pastel green reflections. The bouquet is floral and well-defined, with hints of rose petals, jasmine, lychee, and the characteristic note of hazelnut. On the palate, it reveals itself as fresh and endowed with a pleasant fullness, supported by a fine and balanced acidity, which gives the tasting a harmonious and lively impression, closing in a long and persistent finish.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the municipalities of Lavis, Pressano, Sorni, and the lower Cembra Valley, in the heart of the Vigneti delle Dolomiti area. The vines grow at approximately four hundred metres of altitude, cultivated using the simple Trentino pergola system. The steep south and south-west facing slopes benefit from a beneficial Alpine-Mediterranean influence, essential for the aromatic development of the clusters. The wine's complexity stems from a marked geological variety: the marly soils provide distinct aromatic notes, while the silty and porphyritic soils ensure structure, giving the sip a clear mountain identity.
How it is produced
The manual harvest takes place at the beginning of October, respecting the slow ripening of the Nosiola to preserve its freshness. Soft pressing in an inert atmosphere and static decantation of the musts precede temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, limiting oxidative phenomena. A lees ageing of about six months follows, a fundamental step to give texture and breadth to the palate. At the table, this white wine pairs perfectly with asparagus-based dishes, grilled vegetables, vegetarian recipes, and a flavourful mussel risotto.
History and Curiosities
Since 1948, Cantina La-Vis has been showcasing Nosiola, a rare, late-ripening native grape variety from Trentino. Cultivated using the pergola system on the hills of Pressano and in the Cembra Valley, the vines grow on marly soils, benefiting from an Alpine-Mediterranean climate. The manual harvest in October is paired with virtuous ecological practices, reducing the use of chemicals to offer an authentic Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT, in which the unique aromatic profile magnificently enhances the unmistakable elegance of this mountain terroir.

The logo takes inspiration from a decorative element that has always been present in the company and bears a highly symbolic value: a wooden bas-relief celebrating the founding of the winery in 1948 which represents the coats of arms of the municipalities of Lavis, Giovo and Meano, the very first protagonists in the association’s establishment. A timeless brand of great strength that puts the Winery and its founding values at the centre: cooperation, history and the bond with the territory.
The Lavis wine-makers cooperative traces its origins to 1850, when the Cembran family built the initial core of the current production unit. It was officially formed in 1948 by 14 independent wine-makers and grew in the years that followed, due partly to acquisitions of other producers, including mergers with the Salorno Cooperative of South Tyrol in 1969 and Cantina Sociale di Cembra in 2003.
