Description

Type of wine

Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva Campaner from Kaltern Caldaro is a structured and elegant still red wine, produced in Trentino-Alto Adige. Made exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, this wine perfectly expresses the characteristics of the Alto Adige appellation. It presents in the glass with an intense ruby red colour and stands out for its full-bodied profile, characterised by well-structured tannins and a long, persistent finish. Its powerful yet balanced nature, enriched by ageing in wood, makes it perfect for pairing with red meats and matured cheeses.

Origin

The grapes come from the picturesque area of Caldaro, in Trentino-Alto Adige. The vineyards span south-facing slopes, situated at an altitude of between 250 and 350 metres above sea level. The area's Mediterranean climate favours optimal and steady ripening of the grapes, preserving the fruity aromas. The soil is mainly composed of clayey limestone gravel, an excellent combination that ensures good drainage and retains the heat necessary for the development of the bunches. These peculiar environmental conditions give the wine its typical solid structure and distinctive fruity notes.

How it is produced

The production of this wine involves careful vinification aimed at extracting colour and structure. After the harvest, the grapes undergo fermentation with maceration on the skins at 28 °C for about two weeks, followed by malolactic fermentation. Subsequently, the wine ages for about twelve months in barriques and large wooden barrels, a fundamental step to soften the tannic texture and enrich the aromatic profile. Finally, before bottling, the wine undergoes a light filtration, thus ensuring the integrity and quality of the final product.
