Description
What style of wine it is
Domaine Drouhin Oregon's Dundee Hills Pinot Noir is an elegant and refined still red wine. This 100% Pinot Noir originates from Oregon, United States, and perfectly represents the category of great American reds. Its sensory profile is distinguished by beautifully balanced fruit, supported by elegant tannins and a pleasant persistence on the palate. On the nose, it offers fragrant aromas of bright black cherries, orange peel and golden spices, enriched by a touch of sweet oak resulting from the meticulous work in the cellar.
Where it comes from
This wine comes from the renowned Dundee Hills, a prestigious viticultural sub-region located in Dayton, in the state of Oregon. The Drouhin family's deep roots have brought the expertise developed in Burgundy's finest vineyards directly to the New World.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a rigorous hand-harvesting of the bunches, carefully placed in small crates. Once they reach the cellar, the grapes are sorted and destemmed by hand within a unique four-level gravity-flow facility. The transformation takes place through long and careful fermentations, ideal for delicately extracting colour and aromas. Finally, the wine rests through ageing in bespoke French oak barrels, crafted in Burgundy from fine woods, to perfectly integrate the structure.
History and curiosities
The deep roots of the Drouhin family are steeped in winemaking tradition, having taken hold in the finest vineyards of Burgundy over a century ago. Bringing this precious heritage to the New World, in Dayton, Oregon, the estate blends the past with brilliant artisanal technique. The grapes are expertly processed in a unique four-level gravity-flow winery. The strong link with their origins is reinforced through the use of custom-made barrels, crafted specifically in Burgundy using exclusive oak from the most renowned French forests.
