Description
What type of wine it is
Frescobaldi's Aurea Gran Rosé is a still rosé wine from Tuscany, with a Typical Geographical Indication (IGT). Born from a masterly blend of Syrah and Vermentino, this wine expresses a dry and structured profile, characterised by a marked minerality and a clear coastal sapidity. The bouquet opens with intense notes of red fruits, citrus and violet, followed by a velvety sip supported by an elegant acidity. Its complexity is enriched by a meticulous winemaking process and targeted ageing, which give the wine a remarkable aromatic precision and a long, persistent finish.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Tenuta Ammiraglia in Maremma, situated on hills facing the Tyrrhenian coast, near Magliano. The south-facing vineyards are located at an altitude of approximately 150 metres above sea level. The Mediterranean climate, characterised by constant sea breezes, helps to balance the ripeness of the fruit and the freshness of the wine. The soils are clay-calcareous in nature with an abundant presence of stones, a terroir that imparts a clear mineral imprint and a pleasant sapidity to the wine, enhancing the coastal identity of the area.
How it is produced
The production of Aurea Gran Rosé involves a manual harvest during the coolest hours, followed by a rigorous selection of the bunches. Pressing is carried out softly, using whole bunches in the absence of oxygen. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in French oak barrels. Subsequently, the wine ages on the fine lees for eight months. The wine's structure is enhanced by the addition of a small reserve of Syrah, vinified as a white wine and aged for twenty months in barrels, lending further depth and elegance to the final blend.
History and interesting facts
Born from the intuition of Lamberto Frescobaldi at the wonderful Ammiraglia Estate, this wine represents the authentic essence of the Tuscan Maremma. A fascinating detail of the project is the innovative technique applied, which involves the unusual white vinification of Syrah and Vermentino grapes. The meticulous process is enhanced by the addition of a prestigious Syrah Vin de Réserve, aged for twenty months in barriques. Dedication to this bold vision has led the label to achieve ninety-three points from James Suckling and gold from The Drinks Business.
