Description
Type of wine
Barolo Riserva Bel Colle is a still red wine with a controlled and guaranteed designation of origin that embodies the authentic elegance of Piedmont. Produced from Nebbiolo grapes, it presents a garnet colour with orange highlights. The bouquet is complex and deep, with notes of raspberry, rose petals and violet that blend with tertiary hints of leather, tobacco and liquorice. On the palate, it reveals an opulent structure, perfectly balanced by a harmonious acidity and silky, refined tannins, leading towards a persistent finish. It is the ideal companion for red meat dishes, game and mature hard cheeses.
Origin
This prestigious wine comes from Verduno, one of the most renowned areas for Barolo production. The grapes are selected from old vines located in the Boscatto and Monvigliero crus, at an altitude of between 300 and 350 metres above sea level. The terrain, characterised by calcareous-clay soils, is essential for giving the wine a marked complexity and the palate structure necessary to ensure an extraordinary evolution over time.
Production
Production begins with a careful manual harvest, followed by fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature. A brief contact with dry ice during the fifteen days of maceration allows the aromatic complexity to be enhanced. The wine initially matures separately for five years in large oak casks; subsequently, the blend is created followed by a further five years of ageing in wood, completed by resting in the bottle. This long ten-year journey produces a glass of exceptional balance and rare consistency.
History and curiosities
Bel Colle's Barolo DOCG Riserva originates from a historic family estate founded in 1967, representing the ultimate expression of the region. The "10 Anni" designation celebrates the oenologists' wedding anniversary and refers to the long ten-year ageing spent between oak barrels and the bottle. Acclaimed by international critics, this prestigious red has earned the Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso and 93 points from Kerin O’Keefe. An artisanal tribute to complex Piedmontese elegance, perfect for great connoisseurs.
