Description
What type of wine it is
Bruno Rocca's Barbaresco Rabajà is a still red wine that enhances the authentic expression of Nebbiolo. In the glass, it presents with a garnet red colour that anticipates a well-defined bouquet. On the nose, notes of violet and dog rose emerge, accompanied by hints of raspberry, morello cherry and slight buttery nuances. On the palate, it is distinguished by a warm and enveloping sip, supported by soft and rounded tannins that provide an impeccable structure. Thanks to its balance, it is ideal in combination with structured first courses, pork, game and aged cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the municipality of Barbaresco, in the heart of the Piedmontese wine-growing area of the same name. The vines take root in soils composed of clay and tuff, with veins of marl and limestone. This geological composition promotes the development of a precise tannic texture and a deep territorial identity. The Bruno Rocca family's link with these lands dates back to the 1950s, becoming definitively established in 1978. Dedication to prized vineyards enhances the soul of the area, ensuring the wine has a significant structure and high ageing potential.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with fermentation in stainless steel lasting about twenty days, essential for extracting the aromatic and polyphenolic profile of Nebbiolo. Subsequently, the wine ages for twenty-four months in French oak, maturing in wooden casks and barriques. This step balances the delicate woody notes with the freshness of the fruit, defining an elegant and harmonious sip. The result is a red of extreme technical precision that benefits from one hour of decanting, necessary to fully reveal its gustatory complexity.

This spelled the beginning of the company’s growth and the end of sharecropping. Still a minor, Bruno learned to see grapes as the true expression of the land. After the first decades, when the vineyard’s products were sold almost exclusively to Barbaresco Producers, and used only minimally for wine production, in 1978 he decided to take the company in a new direction. With enthusiasm growing for the burgeoning wine market, Rabajà di Bruno Rocca managed to carve out a name and image for itself on the Italian and world stage by selling bottled wine, thereby becoming a veritable leader in the field.
The philosophy of wine as the natural expression of the Barbaresco territory was widely appreciated, and with the company’s gradual growth came the purchase of new plots of land and the expansion of the cellar, all the way up to the current day. Read more
