Description
What type of wine it is
The Gewürztraminer by Falkenstein stands out as a dry aromatic white wine, an authentic expression of Alto Adige. To the eye, it displays an intense yellow colour enriched with warm highlights, anticipating a sharp and inviting sensory profile. Exotic aromas of mango and lychee emerge on the nose with great clarity, introducing a concentrated and fresh sip. On the palate, it develops supported by a lively acidity that leads towards a decidedly savoury and dry finish, completed by fermentation in large acacia barrels.
Where it comes from
This wine is born in the Val Venosta, a mountainous territory of Alto Adige that gives the Gewürztraminer a unique expressive precision. The bond with the Alpine environment is deep, where the Falkenstein winery operates following a rigorous independent winemaker philosophy. Vineyard management involves a high planting density, between eight thousand five hundred and nine thousand five hundred vines per hectare, associated with a limited agricultural yield of sixty quintals. This quality-focused agronomic approach allows aromas to be concentrated in the clusters, expressing the purest essence of its terroir of origin.
How it is produced
The winemaking process begins with a temperature-controlled fermentation that takes place entirely in a large acacia wood barrel. This technical approach enhances the artisanal style of processing, respecting the primary aromatic character of the Traminer Aromatico. The subsequent maturation phase continues for ten months within the same acacia barrels, followed by a further final refinement of two months. The result is a wine with a completely dry profile, free of residual sugars, which focuses entirely on intensity and a complex structure. The readiness of its olfactory and gustatory expression allows it to be fully appreciated without the need for any prior decanting.

A dream that does not come by chance: it is in fact here that in the past Schiava grapes were pressed for the family Inn. There are mentions of the Falkenstein wine region and the vineyard dating back to the 12th century, and the Pratzner family can celebrate more than two hundred years of existence.
A traditional outlook and attention to detail. These are words full of meaning for the Pratzner family. The constant daily activities are based on manual work, with the machines only there to provide support. Since 2003, all the wines are vinified in the new cellar. White wines age in large acacia wood casks in the cellar carved into the rock.
Wine is the reflection of the winemaker, and of the passion and philosophy with which the vine is treated. At the Falkenstein winery, we want to continue to produce naturally and to respect the environment. We remain faithful to our intergenerational motto: live in close contact with nature and appreciate it, but never underestimate it. Read more
