Description
Style of wine
Chardonnay Lidia by La Spinetta is an organic still white wine made from Chardonnay grapes, produced in the Piedmont region and belonging to the Piemonte denomination. It is distinguished by a structured, complex, and beautifully balanced profile, with a distinct sapidity, well-defined acidic tension, and notes of ripe citrus, white flowers, and Rennet apple. Fermentation in French oak barrels and long ageing define its elegance, offering a creamy finish with great persistence and a remarkable potential for evolution over time.
Origin
The grapes for this wine come from vineyards located in the municipality of Mango, in Piedmont, cultivated under organic and sustainable practices. The vines grow at an altitude of approximately 500 metres above sea level, with a south-eastern exposure. This unique hillside position is fundamental in defining the wine's aromatic profile and freshness. The soil, composed of limestone-marl with a sandy tendency, contributes significantly to the clear mineral imprint and sapidity that characterise every sip. The characteristics of the terrain and the local climate give the wine a particularly vibrant energy and refined complexity.
How it is produced
Production involves careful processing of the Chardonnay grapes to preserve the energy of the fruit. Alcoholic fermentation takes place entirely in used French oak barrels (second passage). At the end of fermentation, the wine continues its maturation within the same barrels for approximately 18 months. This wood-ageing phase allows the wine to acquire structure, complexity, and its characteristic creaminess on the palate, without overpowering the varietal character. Subsequently, the wine rests in the bottle for a further six months before being released onto the market, a key step to harmonise and define its flavour nuances.
