Description
What type of wine it is
Langhe Nebbiolo Occhetti by Prunotto is a still red wine from Piedmont produced purely from Nebbiolo grapes. Belonging to the prestigious Langhe denomination, this wine stands out for its elegant and enveloping profile. On the nose it expresses clear floral and fruity hints, with notes of rose, raspberry and liquorice, while on the palate it offers a fine and well-integrated tannic texture. Characterised by a full body and matured in oak barrels, it provides a long, harmonious and persistent finish.
Where it comes from
The grapes destined for this wine come from the territory of Alba, nestled between the hills of the Langhe and Roero in Piedmont. The renowned vineyards of the Occhetti area, from which this historic wine has been produced since the seventies, enjoy an altitude of approximately 250 metres above sea level and a perfect exposure to the south and south-west. The soil is characterised by stratified marine sands, alternating with layers of gravel and sediments of a clayey-calcareous nature. This particular geological composition is essential for giving the grapes structural elegance and soft tannins, faithfully translating the nuances of the territory into the glass.
How it is produced
Processing begins in October with the careful harvesting of the bunches. In the cellar, following de-stemming and crushing, the must undergoes fermentation at a controlled temperature, accompanied by maceration on the skins for about ten days. Malolactic fermentation is completed before the winter season, giving stability to the organoleptic profile. The evolution of the wine involves ageing in oak barrels and barriques for twelve months, followed by a further rest in the bottle for four months, designed to perfect the gustatory harmony before being released onto the market.
