Description

What type of wine it is

Rosé by J. Hofstätter is a still rosé wine from the Alto Adige appellation. This wine is produced from a careful blend of Lagrein and Merlot grapes, varieties that together create a fresh and elegant aromatic profile. On the palate, it stands out for its pronounced minerality and a lively yet always well-balanced acidity, revealing a harmonious character and a long, pleasant finish. Its characteristics make it a lean and well-defined wine, a direct and authentic expression of the estate's viticultural vocation.

Provenance

The roots of this wine lie in the heart of Alto Adige, specifically among the slopes of Tramin-Termeno and the lands in the municipality of Ora. The production area is characterised by a soil composition that is predominantly clayey, gravelly, and sandy—optimal conditions for cultivating the varieties used. The region's Alpine climate profoundly influences the wine's characteristics, favouring the development of a crisp and vibrant aromatic profile with natural freshness.

How it is produced

The production process begins with careful destemming of the bunches, followed by skin maceration lasting approximately 24 hours. This phase is crucial for giving the wine its distinctive colour and for extracting the delicate aromatic components. Subsequently, the grapes undergo gentle pressing. Both fermentation and the subsequent ageing take place exclusively in stainless steel tanks, a technical choice designed to preserve the integrity of the fruit and the natural vivacity of the wine.

History and Facts

This rosé represents a refined and sincere tribute to the family tradition of the famous Hofstätter estate. Its origin skilfully combines the fine Lagrein and Merlot grapes grown between the historic slopes of Tramin and the municipality of Auer, proudly celebrating deep local viticultural roots. A fascinating detail regarding this label concerns the technical process adopted: its unmistakable raspberry-pink brilliance is achieved through a delicate one-day maceration on the skins, preserving the authentic identity of the terroir.

The wisdom of generations. The drive to continuously create something new together. Our family winery’s story stretches back to the 19th century. Anticipating the future, just like Paolo Foradori. He once coins the term "Vigna" – marking the dawn of single-vineyard classification in Alto Adige. Pioneering spirit is deeply ingrained in our family heritage. Today, it is led by Martin and Beatrix Foradori Hofstätter, supported by the next generation: Niklas and Emma.

We uphold the highest standards every single day. In the vineyard, this means nurturing our vines through gentle pruning and the use of cover crops to enhance their strength. In the wine cellar, innovation meets tradition, as we age our wines in both classic wooden barrels and modern concrete vats. Cutting-edge cellar technology also plays an essential role in ensuring the quality of our wines.
