Description
What type of wine is it
Barolo Parafada by Massolino is a Piedmontese red wine produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, a pure and authentic expression of Serralunga d’Alba. In the glass, it displays an intense and brilliant garnet colour, while the aromatic profile is deep, characterised by clear notes of ripe red fruits, withered rose, dark spices and a delicate balsamic touch. On the palate, it reveals an austere and robust structure, supported by dense tannins and a vibrant minerality that guides the sip towards a finish of great persistence. Maturation in large oak casks ensures an extraordinary capacity for evolution over time.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the historic Parafada vineyard, located in the heart of Serralunga d’Alba. The rows, Guyot-trained and composed of vines over fifty years old, enjoy a southern exposure and are situated at approximately three hundred and thirty metres in altitude, ideal conditions for optimal ripening. The calcareous-marly and sandy soils give this Barolo a deep sapidity and a well-defined mineral texture, faithfully reflecting the unique character of its territory of origin.
How it is produced
Production begins with a meticulous manual harvest in the second half of October. Vinification includes fermentation at a controlled temperature and maceration on the skins for about two or three weeks, which is fundamental for extracting colour, aromas and tannins. Afterwards, the wine matures for thirty months in large oak casks, gaining structure and stability. The process is completed with bottle ageing for at least one year in suitable environments, essential for harmonising the flavour profile and defining the persistence of Massolino Barolo Parafada.

With tenacity and passion, we have been making wine since 1896.
Azienda Agricola Massolino Vigna Rionda is the dream of our great-grandfather Giovanni, who founded the estate in 1896. In those days, it was a traditional Langa farm, producing fruit and vegetables, raising livestock and making wine.
Our family is firmly at the helm of the historic estate that inhaled the vibrant air full of change of the late 19th century and navigated the tides of the first half of the 20th century. Today, we face the new challenges of the 21st century, in the capable hands of the third and fourth generations.
We are Massolino Vigna Rionda and we are writing a legacy with our wines. Read more
