Description
What kind of wine it is
Massolino’s Barolo Serralunga d’Alba Vigna Rionda Riserva is a Piedmontese red made from Nebbiolo grapes, a classic expression of Barolo. This Riserva reveals a profound style, an elegant structure and silky tannins. The aromatic profile ranges from red fruits to notes of forest floor, tobacco and spices. After long ageing in oak barrels, the palate is very persistent, ideal for meats and game.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Vigna Rionda Cru, in Serralunga d’Alba, at an altitude of about three hundred metres. The rows grow on limestone marl soils, essential for aromatic concentration and tannin definition. In this environment, historic fifty-year-old vines yield complex clusters, managed with precision viticulture. This specific sub-zone gives the wine a rigorous character and great depth of flavour.
How it is produced
The harvest takes place between late September and mid-October. Fermentation includes maceration in oak barrels for about thirty days to extract maximum finesse. The wine then matures for forty-two months in large Slavonian oak casks, completing its journey with a long period of ageing. The result is a red with a refined tannic texture, created to ensure excellent longevity and a splendid evolution over time.

With tenacity and passion, we have been making wine since 1896.
Azienda Agricola Massolino Vigna Rionda is the dream of our great-grandfather Giovanni, who founded the estate in 1896. In those days, it was a traditional Langa farm, producing fruit and vegetables, raising livestock and making wine.
Our family is firmly at the helm of the historic estate that inhaled the vibrant air full of change of the late 19th century and navigated the tides of the first half of the 20th century. Today, we face the new challenges of the 21st century, in the capable hands of the third and fourth generations.
We are Massolino Vigna Rionda and we are writing a legacy with our wines. Read more
