Description

Type of wine

Paladin's Merlot Drago Rosso is a still red Italian Varietal Wine from Veneto, produced from Merlot grapes and aged in large wooden casks, capable of expressing a soft character and an enveloping structure. In the glass, it presents an intense ruby red colour, anticipating an olfactory profile where hints of cherry and blueberry stand out, enriched by delicate spiced notes. On the palate, it is velvety, supported by harmonious tannins that lead towards a persistent finish. This wine offers a balanced sip, revealing refined hints of plum and leather that complete its aromatic profile and define its unmistakable style.

Where it comes from

The winery, active since 1962, looks after the estate's hundred hectares in Annone Veneto (Venice) with meticulous dedication to bring this artisanal wine to life.

How it is produced

The vinification aims to enhance the aromatic potential through fermentation conducted in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a prolonged maceration on the skins for over eighteen days, which is fundamental for defining the wine's structure. Subsequently, the process is completed with careful ageing in large wooden casks, an essential step to smooth out any harshness and provide greater roundness to the sip. This process results in a wine with a defined and persistent sensory profile, capable of faithfully reflecting the attention dedicated to every production stage.

History and curiosities

Produced in Annone Veneto by the Paladin winery, active since 1962, this fascinating Merlot reflects a pioneering vision based on a sustainable and vegan philosophy. The estate's hundred hectares are tended with meticulous dedication to give life to an elegant Italian Varietal Wine, awarded 90 points by James Suckling and 3 Vines by the AIS. The skilful vinification, followed by a long maceration and careful ageing in large wooden barrels, gives the wine a velvety and enveloping smoothness, capable of winning over the most demanding palates.

Paladin Vigne e Vini is the first winery of the whole Casa Paladin group, it’s a family owned estate founded by our father in 1962, in Motta di Livenza, near Treviso. It’s located at the boundaries of the Venetian land where we moved in the mid-70s, in Annone Veneto, a historic village located in the Roman Postumia road. The passion and love for vine and wine comes from our father, Valentino, who used to follow his grandfather, since he was a child, in the vineyards and in the cellar.

Passion, research, dedication and respect for traditions are the main values that have been guiding his philosophy since he created his own cellar. He was strongly determined to enhance the territorial typicalness of our Lison-Pramaggiore area, by producing excellent wines.
