Description
Type of wine
Barolo Riva del Bric by Paolo Conterno is a still red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes, an authentic expression of Barolo, in Piedmont. In the glass, it shows an elegant garnet colour, which anticipates intense floral and fruity aromas. On the palate, it boasts a robust body, featuring fragrant notes of cherry and wild berries. The decision not to filter the wine preserves its natural softness in the finish, making it the ideal pairing for red meats, game and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The vineyards are rooted in the prestigious territory of Monforte d'Alba, in Piedmont, at an altitude of between 300 and 350 metres. The south and south-east exposure on steep slopes ensures excellent ripening of the bunches. The vines, trained using the Guyot system, benefit from clay and limestone soil which gives tension to the sip and a solid structure to the aromatic profile. With an average age of about twenty-five years, the vines guarantee low yields, preparing the fruit for a high-quality manual harvest.
How it is produced
The winemaking process begins in October with the destemming and crushing of the bunches. Fermentation involves maceration on the skins for about fifteen to twenty days in specific tanks, an essential step to extract the noble components and achieve an ideal chromatic and tannic balance. Subsequently, the wine matures for a long time in French oak casks, before completing its ageing in the bottle. The absence of residual sugar and the choice not to filter the product define a rigorous and elegant profile.

As in the past, each one of us today contributes to the cultivation of the vineyards with great care and commitment. In the past people made use of the few means they had, of manual labour, perseverance and stubbornness. Modern technology helps to save much hard work, and with the experience accumulated over the years, it is possible to do things better and gain great satisfaction and new incentives from our work.
