Description
What type of wine it is
Ritterhof’s Gewürztraminer Auratus is an aromatic white wine with a Protected Designation of Origin that elegantly expresses the character of Alto Adige. On the nose, it reveals itself as exuberant, with intense aromas of rose and geranium that intertwine with notes of tropical fruit, elderflower, dill and sage. On the palate, it exhibits a structured texture, harmoniously balanced by a savoury freshness, enhanced by meticulous cold maceration and ageing on the lees. This balance makes it the ideal companion for Asian cuisine dishes, flavourful cheeses, shellfish and grilled fish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the heart of Tramin, specifically in the Rungg area of Alto Adige. The vineyards are situated in sunny locations at an altitude between 320 and 400 metres, a condition that favours the full ripening of the bunches. The clay-loam soil plays a fundamental role, giving solidity to the structure and amplifying the aromatic spectrum. The winery adopts sustainable viticulture, acting in full respect of the Alpine ecosystem.
How it is produced
The production process begins with the manual harvest, carried out between late September and mid-October. Once in the cellar, the Gewürztraminer grapes undergo cold maceration for approximately seven hours, a crucial step for extracting aromatic compounds from the skins. Fermentation at a controlled temperature is followed by careful ageing on the lees. This phase allows the clarity of the aromas to be consolidated and gives the wine a pleasant and silky texture on the palate.
